What to wear when your invited somewhere casual, but you’re tired of wearing jeans all the time.

A wardrobe staple, you simply can’t go past a good pair of jeans, but occasionally it’s nice to step outside our comfort zone and wear something else.

For the guys, there’s more variation of fabrics and colours available than what you might think, which means all you have to do is choose a different style pant. If you love your dark denim jeans, opt for a dark brown or steel grey pair of chinos from any of your favourite stores. Or, if you’re a light wash kind of guy, opt for the more muted coloured pants in stone, greys & browns.

Pair back with your usual T shirt, or long sleeve button up. To add flare, pop a cool belt on and change your shoes up too – nothing screams fashion disaster louder than joggers!  Grab a set of clean sneakers or boots that suit your style. Don’t forget a jacket – not a hoodie – an actual jacket made of suede, cotton, wool or leather to keep warm during the cooler months.

Ladies, wardrobe full of clothes and nothing to wear sound familiar? As a result, you always grab jeans and top, and the rest of your wardrobe just sits there neglected?  Jumpstart your casual wardrobe with one simple stylish tip – layering! It really is as simple as it sounds.  Choose a dress from your wardrobe (or top and skirt combo) that you love but don’t get to wear enough, place some opaque stockings with the hemline (so you can visualise what it’s going to look like), place some flat boots or ankle boots on the floor below, then step back and see if you have your proportions and colouring right, if not, change it where possible. Next find a cardi or light jacket you can place underneath a heavier jacket or coat; style tip: try to get your coat hemline to be the same length or longer than your dress hemline. Voilà! A stylish casual outfit you can feel confident in!
